Information Overload
There are a few questions when it comes to beginning a learning journey:
- Where do I start?
- HOW do I start?
- How long will it take?
- Etc…
I hope to answer some of these questions as you browse my site content.
Who Am I?
Hi, I’m Matt Coale. I’m a life-long learner, with a passion for programming, web development, game design, and computers in general. I reside in the Pacific Northwest with my wife and three children, who keep me busy and truly mean the world to me.
In 2019 I decided to once and for all, start on my path to becoming a developer. I took it upon myself to start (continue) my path by learning one basic, simple language: JavaScript (spoiler alert: It isn’t very basic or simple–but it’s fun!).
In the past I attempted to self-learn programming quickly, by studying two or three different languages at a time, but have found that learning in such a way, though it gave me a basic knowledge of programming, didn’t nail in any good information. In fact, it left me thinking “I’m not smart enough to be a programmer.” Luckily, I took step back and have have learned what works well for me, and I now find that focusing on one language at a time is very beneficial in the long-run, as it results in better retention.
I created this site to help inspire others to keep on learning, as well as to document my personal journey to becoming a professional dev.
